Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
