Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
