Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
