Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
