I have been betting poker now for about five years, I have played cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were betting and even though I liked to call it skill, it was quite hard to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was over joyed to accept I was having a long-term run of luck.
Then came Poker, or far more importantly Texas hold’em Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card players in the 1960’s and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is totally the new black, it’s super cool with quite a few of the world’s leading celebs racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick flick via the TV channels these days and it is possible to not escape from poker, and obviously there’s the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each single gambler.
So with all of this new found popularity, with so numerous Television programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this game is all about position!?
Perhaps I should not have so worked up about this, after all the much more folks who struggle with the subtle tactics and approaches necessary for winning consistently at Hold em, the better it is for everyone else, proper? I mean, if they can not be troubled to look at all of the offered details about why location is so important, why need to we bother? We need to just be happy there’s another fish at the table!
It is true, we should not reward procrastination with guidance and assist. However, I liken this to a welcoming game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so great, except when you notice a gambler struggling, you aid them, provide them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a method to like, really like and be grateful for the casino game as much as you. I’m askin all house players to do exactly the same thing with their poker friends who haven’t quite grasped the subtleties of playing position. Support them to grow their respect for the casino game. Needless to say, do not attempt to try this one in your community gambling house, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you instructing their lunch how to swim!
