Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
