Annie Duke might not have captured her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is still one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited World Series of Poker win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker go berserk after a huge win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her four children. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught Annie the correct way to compete in poker.
However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has captured her share of hard tables, including knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.
Earning over $3 million in tournament action, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to sharpen his skills to become a big player in poker.
You may observe her at the Bellagio, you’ll catch her on the television and you may even play with her in a web-based poker game, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you’re a up and coming master, you will not defeat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
