Poker has become world celebrated recently, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the first poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than old guard poker, in that the players wager against the bank rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no bluffing or different kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the croupier declares "No more bets." At that moment, both you and the house and of course every one of the other players receive 5 cards each. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to either make a call bet or give up. The call wager’s value is on same level to your original ante, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes instantly to the dealer. After the bet is the showdown. If the dealer does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus a figure in accordance with the initial bet. If the casino does have ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The casino pony’s up chips even with your ante and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
